Foreign warplanes, thought to be belonging U.S. military are reported to have bombed a rural area near an Al-Shabaab camp in middle Jubba region of southern Somalia on Wednesday , sources revealed.

Reliable Sources say the suspected American fighter jets have raided a small village identified as Kumbarera, which lies about 20KM west of Jilib district, the biggest Al shabaab stronghold in the region.

Reports suggest that the warplanes have fired at least 10 missiles in the residential area, which is home for hundreds of nomadic cattle herders. Al shabaab, however said it has no bases in the bombed village.

There were no immediate reports of the casualties as a result of the airstrike by the foreign military jets.

In recent months, U.S. and Kenyan air force warplanes have been launching aerial attacks targeting Al-Shabaab camps which have left many casualties, including innocent Somali civilians.
