wo senior militant officers have reportedly been killed in clashes between government forces and Al Shabaab fighters in central Somalia’s town of Bulo-burde in Hiran region, official said.
The clashes ignited after gov’t troops launched an orchestrated attack on Al Shabaab bases in Eyn and Gedo-samo areas in the town, killing scores of militants including 2 commanders, military officials said.
Bulo-burde District Commissioner, Abdi Aziz Durow Abdi told Idale News that one of the two slain commanders has been identified as Hirey and was in charge of Al Shabaab for recruits.
“The dead bodies of Al Shabaab commanders are lying on the battle zone, we will continue fighting against militants until they are eradicated” he said.
Reliable sources told Idale News Online that Mayor of Bulo-burde town, Osman Gedo has been wounded in the fighting and also his vehicle was taken away by fighters from Al Shabaab.
Somalia’s armed group of Al Shabaab did not comment on the claims.
