Suspected U.S. military soldiers have conducted an operation in southern Somalia, targeting Al shabaab bases in the outskirts of Kismayo city, 500Km south Somalia.

The special forces riding fighter jets swooped into Farwamo and Bulo-Gadud villages, and engaged in a fierce gunfire with Al shabaab militants, according to residents.

Al shabaab pulled its fighters out of the locations after the foreign forces attack.

Reports say at least four Al shabaab fighters were killed in the attack as Ethiopian troops retake Farwamo and Bulo-Gadud villages from the militants.

Both villages are located some 30 kilometers north of Kismayo city, the headquarters of Lower Jubba region. Al shabaab did not comment on the attack and casualties.
