A Heavily fortified base belonging to AMISOM in Mogadishu is reported to have been attacked by suspected Al Shabaab militants on Saturday midnight.
The attack which took place at AMISOM’s camp in Masalaha area, has triggered one and half hours-long direct gunfire between AU soldiers and the attackers.
During the fighting, AMISOM fired several mortar shells at nearby residential areas in Huriwa district, but there is no verified information on the damages caused.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the AMISOM base attack. Al shabaab militants have previously targeted AU troops’ bases in the capital with similar attack.
