South West State army carry out sweep in Baidoa

The security forces of the Somalia’s interim South West State administration have launched an operation in the strategic Baidoa, capital city of Bay region on Friday Idale News Online Reports.

Police officers of the South West State said the sweep began on Thursday night and continued until Friday morning, searching suspected Al shabaab members.

Unspecified number of Al shabaab suspects have been arrested in the security operation and they are currently being interrogated in police custody, authorities said.

Baidoa, some 250 kilometers south west of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu has been stable over the past few months as Somali and AMISOM troops boosted up the security.
