South west state of Somalia forces backed by Ethiopian troops of AMISOM contingent have conducted a joint anti-al shabaab operation near Diinsoor town in Bay region on Wednesday.
Somali military officials say their sweep was aimed at security the rural areas near the town and drive Al shabaab militants out of the remaining strongholds in Somalia’s southern Bay region.
Speaking to Idale News Online Diinsoor district commissioner Ibrahim Mohamed Nur Shigshigow said the allied troops have destroyed Al shabaab bases and dislodged militants from their strongholds.
The militants of Al shabaab did not comment on the military’s claim.
