Somaliland parliament has passed a motion granting the UAE permission to establish a military base in the breakaway region.
144 Mps voted in favour of the military base in a voting held on Sunday.
President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo had called for an extraordinary session on the matter. The Somaliland opposition had been opposed to the establishment of a military base at Berbera.
The country had been torn apart on the same issue . Government would not put forth a motion that would cause problems for the country and its sovereignty.
