Somalia: One killed, 8 hurt in SNA bombardment

A woman died, and eight civilians wounded in an indiscriminate shelling on a residential area near Bulo-Marer district in Lower Shabelle region by Somali National Army (SNA).

SNA forces stationed outside the town have been accused of firing mortar shells on a densely populated area, killing at least one woman and injuring over eight others.

Colonel Hassan Jama, a senior Somali military commander in the region has confirmed civilian casualties resulted from the SNA mortar fire in the village near Bulo-Marer town.

The SNA forces were in operation to root out Al shabaab militants from their bastion outside the district in Lower Shabelle region, before the civilian killing, he said.
