Several mortar shells landed near the headquarters of Somalia’s transport ministry in Mogadishu on Sunday, hours after two blasts occurred in Galkayo.

The mortars are said to have struck residential areas near the ministry’s compound, with reports that some of them landed inside the govt building.

It was immediately unclear the exact casualty figures of the mortar shelling in Mogadishu’s Shangani district. No group has yet claimed credit for the attack.

Al Shabaab has carried out on Sunday two deadly suicide attacks in Galkayo in central Somalia, killing at least twenty people, including civilians.
