Somalia has celebrated the 26the June last night, with a ceremony to commemorate to event being held at the administrative headquarters of Benadir regional administration.
The June 26 celebration marks 66th anniversary of when Somalia’s northern regions have garnered its independence from Britain.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has congratulated the Somali people in northern regions on 26-June Independence Day.
“This is a significant night to our Nation, I hereby extend congratulations to the people of Somalia on this occasion of commemorating 66 years of independence from Britain on the 26th June 1960,” said deputy prime Minister Mohamed Omar Arte.
