Somalia: Land-mine Blast Kills 2 People in Mogadishu

At least two people have been killed, and many more others wounded in a powerful explosion in north of the conflict-riddled Somali capital, Mogadishu on Sunday.

The incident occurred at a highway in Mogadishu’s northern district of Huriwa on Sunday afternoon, when a land mine explosion hit a military vehicle carrying Somali troops.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident. Afterwards, Gunshots were heard from the scene of the incidents that opened by the targeted Somali Govt forces, resident said.

However, the IED attack comes hours after Somalia-based Al-Shabaab fighters had carried out double suicide car bombs on CID at KM4 area in Mogadishu, killing at least ten people.

Despite being driven in Mogadishu in 2011, Al Shabaab militants have promised to intensify their deadly attacks against the government and its foreign military supporters.
