Muqdisho (INO) — A day after he was wounded in Mogadishu hotel bombing, Somalia’s deputy prime minister has been flown to Turkey for medical treatment, according to his office confirmation, Idale News Online reports.
Mohamed Omar Arte Assumed office 27 January 2015 has suffered minor leg injuries in a double suicide attacks targeted central hotel, a high-profile hotel near the heavily fortified presidential palace in Mogadishu.
Arte was taken to a hospital in Anakara, Turkish capital for advanced medical treatment by Turkish airless which flew on Saturday Morning from Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu, sources said.
Somali security forces arrested on Saturday at least 12, including two hotel managers in connection with the attack which was well-planned and coordinated. The suspects are now being questioned at NISA prison in the capital.
The Al Qaeda-linked militant group Al shabaab has claimed full responsibility for the deadly hotel attack, according to Sheikh Abdiaziz Abu Musab who spoke to the group’s radio station, Andulus.
The death toll from Friday’s twin bombs in central hotel has risen to 25 people, including two Lawmakers and Mogadishu deputy mayor. 40 others were wounded and hospitalised.
