Somalia: Clan fighting kills 15 people in Mudug region

At least 15 people are confirmed to have been killed, and 30 more others wounded in deadly clan fighting broke out Monday parts of Mudug region, in central Somalia, reports said.

The clashes between the two militia fighters hailing from Puntland and Galmudug states of Somalia flared up  in Far Jamale village in Mudug region and widened to nearby areas.

According to the residents who spoke to IdaleNews.com station in Baidoa by phone that the tribal skirmish was triggered by clan revenge and long-standing hostilities over land ownership.

Up to 30 people, including unarmed civilians sustained variety of wounds in the clan battle, and they have been admitted to hospitals in south and north of the divided Galkayo town, medics said.

Neither Puntland nor Galmudug has spoken about the renewed clan clashes in Mudug region.
