A high-level delegation led by the president of the federal republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived at Dadaab, the world’s largest refugee camp which hosts nearly a half mission Somali refugees.

In a Twitter post, Somali foreign minister Abdisalan Omar Hadliye confirmed the president’s arrival in Dadaab refugee camp on mission to finalize for the voluntary return of Somali refugees back to home.

The Somali ambassador to Kenya, foreign minister and other high-ranking officials are accompanying the president on his historic visit to Dadaab, the first sitting Somali leader to trip the refugee camp.

The president’s visit comes as Kenya says it will shut down completely the refugee camp, a move that International community and aid agencies have voiced concern and calling on Uhuru to consider the decision.
