A high-level delegation led by Somalia’s incumbent president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived on Monday in the southern strategic port city of Kismayo.
Mr Mohamud has been welcomed in style at the city’s airport by top Jubbaland officials including president Ahmed Madobe and Somali and AMISOM army commanders.
The security of Kismayo was tightened by Somali, AMISOM and Jubbaland forces ahead of the president’s arrival, according to the reports.
The trip of the president to Kismayo is yet unclear, but it comes as several presidential candidates are pouring into the town for their election campaign and meeting with MPs.
Somali president is seeking second term in office as he announced to run for presidency in 2016 election which has been pushed to 15 December, the 3rd time the election to be delay.
