Al shabaab has carried out an overnight raid on a army checkpoint manned by Somali National Army troops at Sinka Dheer area in the outskirts of Mogadishu.
A gunfire was heard as dozens of armed Al shabaab fighters attacked checkpoint manned by Somali military in the village, before SNA troops pushed back the militants.
SNA commanders claimed victory over the Al shabaab attack, saying the Govt troops have inflicted heavy losses on Al shabaab fighters who attacked the checkpoint in Sinka-Dheer.
Al shabaab, the Al Qaeda-affiliated militants which wants to topple Somalia’s Western-backed government, carries out frequent attacks on military targets and civilian facilities like hotels and restaurants, mostly in the capital Mogadishu.
