Puntland issues security measures after attack

Puntland authorities have introduced new security measures aimed at averting Al shabaab attacks in its territories following a deadly suicide bomb attack in Galkayo town on Thursday.

The security minister of Puntland Abdi Hersi Qarjab said security forces are on high alert to avert further attacks in the region, urging residents to ensure all details of the new comers.

“Puntland Residents should not rent their houses to the anonymous persons and inform to nearby police station for checking,” said Puntland security minister in a press conference.

He said patrols have been stepped up and security was beefed across the major towns of Puntland, to avert possible Al shabaab attacks in revenge for recent offensive in the coast.

The warning came a day after a suicide bomber has killed at least six people, including a finance officer at the ministry of finance of Puntland state Said Ali Yusuf known as (Gada-yare) and Hassan Rush, a former Galmudug information minister.
