No pressure on Hiiraan Elders, says governor

The governor of Hiiraan Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabaged has vehemently denied reports that his administration has put a pressure on the traditional elders against the government.

“No pressure on the region’s elders, but we can’t apply their private interest in the politics and critics against Somalia government,” Dabaged said.

On the other hand, Hiiraan governor has spoken about the detention of a local journalist in Beledweyne city, the headquarters of Hiiraan region of central Somalia on Sunday.

Hiiraan governor also said the journalist has been arrested by police for crimes beyond his journalistic career and he will be put on trail soon to face undisclosed charges.

Ali Dahir Herow (Ali Kuluc), the detained reporter is said to have been collaborating closely with Hawadle clan chief who is against the federal government of Somalia.
