A member of Somali federal parliament Dahir Amin Jesow called for Ugandan peacekeepers serving with African Union mission to leave the country following ‘civilians killing’ early this week in Lower Shabelle region.
The MP has urged Somali government to expel the UPDF from the country after failing to minimize civilian casualties and protect citizens during their day to day operations against Al shabaab.
Mr Jesow underlined that Somali national army soldiers have now the capability to take the security responsibility of the country and replace the foreign forces from Uganda.
The lawmaker said Ugandan peacekeepers began committing execution style civilians killing, in what he termed as a revenge for last September deadly attack on UPDF base in Janaale by Al shabaab.
Ugandan troops make up the bulk of 22,000 strong African Union forces helping Somalia’s UN-backed federal government in the fight against Al shabaab militants.
