A number of mortar rounded have landed at villages near the presidential palace of Somalia in Mogadishu, the latest in series of mortar shelling on the heavily fortified palace.
At least two civilians were confirmed injured when a salvo of mortars targeting Somalia’s presidential palace in Mogadishu missed and landed on a nearby neighbourhood on Sunday, residents said.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the mortar attack, but Al shabaab militants have previously carried out such attacks on the state house which houses Somali president, prime minister and speaker of the parliament.
Despite being driven out of the seaside capital in 2011, the Al shabaab militants still waging attacks, including car bombs and assassinations in Mogadishu in which it targeted government and security officers.
