Unknown gunmen have opened fire on a civilian bus near Shalanbod village in Lower Shabelle region, killing at least one passenger on the spot, a senior official has confirmed.
Shalanbod administrator Nur Osman Rageh, told South west Based Independent station IdaleNews.com the bus came under fire as it was en route to the Al shabaab controlled Janaale town from Shalanbod.
“Somali government troops have launched manhunt operations between Shalanbod and Janaale villages following the bus attack, but they did not succeed to detain the perpetrators,” said Rageh.
Last week, gunmen attacked a bus carrying passengers in Lower Shabelle region, killing and wounding unspecified number of civilians, according to the reports
