Forces seize explosives-laden Car near Mogadishu

A spokesperson for Somali security ministry said Government forces seized a car packed with explosives at Elasha Biyaha, 18Km southwest of Mogadishu.

Security Ministry spokesman Abdikamil Mo’alin Shukri, told Radio Shabelle that the security forces had detained several people, in connection with the car bomb.

“After getting an intelligence information, we captured a vehicle laden with explosives at Elasha Biyaha area, that was aimed to carry out an attack in Mogadishu,” said Somali security ministry spokesman.

According to the Somalia’s internal security ministry Abdikamil Mo’alin Shurki Bomb disposal experts have neutralized the explosives setup inside the minivan following an inspection.

Small arms, including RPG, other assault rifles and ammunition were also recovered in the would-be car bomb attack, he added.

Al-Shabaab has carried out deadly several attacks in the recent months in Mogadishu, including one on Nasa Hablood hotel which killed at least 20 people, among them a state minister for environment at Somali PM office.
