AMISOM Refutes Claims Of Withdrawing Troops From Strategic Towns -INO

Muqdisho(INO)-Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has scoofed the reports that it is troops have withdrawn from strategic towns in Lower Shabbelle.

AMISOM special envoy to Somalia , Ambassador Mamman Sidikou said the troops are currently re-adjusting and re-organising to revatalize the fight against Al Shabaab.

“AMISOM and the SNA are currently re-adjusting and re-organizing troop deployments in order to revitalize an already effective strategy that has enabled the recovery, consolidation ,expansion and control of over eighty percent of South Central Somalia by the Federal Government (FGS).

Early this week , Somalia government officials in Lower Shabeele confirmed to the media that AMISOM forces as well as the National Army withdrew their forces from the towns of Awdheegle , Qoryoley.

The massive withdrawal of forces came less than a week after al-Shabaab militants killed more than 50 African Union forces in a major deadly assault in Leego district of Lower Shabelle.

Al Shabaab have been losing key stronghold to Somalia and AMISOM forces in the recent months , but the group have managed to carry deadly attacks in Somalia and in the neighboring country.
