The spokesman of AMISOM Jeo Kibet has refuted reports that Al shabaab fired mortar shells at Halane base camp, close to Mogadishu International Airport on Saturday.
Speaking to Media, Jeo Kibet said there were no any mortar rounds landed inside Halane base, terming the reports as propaganda and baseless.
Local residents reported hearing heavy bombardments of mortar shells, in which they said targeted AMISOM’s biggest military base in Halane compound.
The mortar rounds were reportedly fired at Halane base by suspected Al shabaab militants from Mogadishu’s Dharkenley district last night, according to residents.
