Al Shabab fighters have beheaded a highly respected traditional elder in southern Somalia town on Monday for collaborating with Somali federal government in Bay region.
The elder who was identified as Aden Abdullah, 45, has been decapitated on Monday in Al Shabaab controlled locality, 10 kilometres away from Qansah-Dheere town in Bay region.
The deputy commissioner of Qansah-Dheere Abdulle Hassan Saney, confirmed the murder of the elder to IdaleNews.com over the phone. He said the slain elder was a ‘peace-loving’.
Saney also said Somali government forces backed by Ethiopian troops of AMISOM contingent are in the process of launching a new offensive against Al Shabaab in Bay.
