A Somali official says SNA soldiers have repulsed Al Shabaab after heavily armed militants attacked their convoy near Hudur town, headquarters of Bakool region.
Mohamed Kheyre Salad, commissioner of Rabdhure district said SNA – Somali National Army squared it off with Al-shabaab in a fierce gun battle in the outskirts of Hudur town.
He added that fierce gun fight erupted after Al-shabaab ambushed the army convoy of government forces vehicles near La-Galay area, 25 kilometers away from Rabdhure.
The SNA convoy left Rabdhure and was heading to Hudur at the time of the Al shabaab surprise attack. One SNA soldiers reportedly killed in the firefight.
Al-shabaab has resorted to ambushing government forces and AMISOM after losing control of major towns within Bakool region and other regions in the country.
