A convoy of army vehicles belonging to the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has been targeted in a roadside explosion in northern Mogadishu on Monday afternoon, residents said.
The landmine believed to have been planted by Al shabaab targeted the AU Army vehicles that were escorting a lorry carrying AMISOM supplies headed to military camp at Ex-control Balad area.
The casualties on AMISOM troops a result of the roadside bomb blast in Mogadishu remain unclear, as there no immediate confirmation from the mission’s spokesman.
Monday’s landmine explosion targeting the AMISOM forces is one among a series of attacks and ambushes in south and central regions of Somalia.
The Al shabaab militants seem to have adopted the roadside landmine tactic beside the car bombs, which have also been witnessed in Mogadishu in the past.
