Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a former district administrator while he was inside a mosque in Mogadishu just after the late evening prayers (Isha), sources say.
Mohamed Omar, a former district administrator in the Hamar Jabjab district was shot at close range inside Bandhabow Mosque. Sources say the man also worked as a soldier.
The gunmen managed to flee the scene after the shooting and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
Witnesses say that security forces arrived shortly after the attack to investigate.
Police have not released a statement.
