Puntland forces have clashed with Islamic state fighters near the coastal town of Qandala, which is located about 75KM east of Bosaso city in Bari region.
The clash has erupted after Puntland forces launched an attack on ISIL base in El Ladid village, 30Km south of the port town of Qandala, according to residents.
Two week ago, Puntland forces retook Qandala town from Islamic state militants which fell to ISIS in October, 2016.
On the other hand, Puntland administration president Abdiwali Mohamed Ali Gaas has sacked Abdiwahid Abdulle warsame, the commander of Puntland armed forces in Mudug region.
The commander has been accused of incompetence, according to the sources.
