A heavy clash has reported in Mogadishu, Somali capital after unknown gunmen attacked federal government troops on security patrol on Friday night.

The confrontation happened in former perfume factory area in Heliwa district, according to reports. There was no immediate confirmation about the casualties.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the ambush attack on Somali security troops in Mogadishu, but the city has seen similar attacks blamed on Al shabaab.

Somali troops backed by AMISOM forces have intensified the anti-al shabaab operation as the country is prepared to hold a presidential palace in mid December.
