Ali Osman Mohamed, a parliamentary candidate has accused the chairman of South West state electoral commission chairman of corruption, intimidation and buying-off the lower house seats in Baidoa city. Idale News Online Reports.
He said the election commission head has asked him to pay $20,000 as bribery to compete for the seat of the lower house chamber of parliament election which is underway in Baidoa, the interim HQ of ISWA.
Mohamed added the names of his clan’s list of the parliamentary candidates have been replaced with other persons who have no the legitimate to represent them in the ongoing parliament election in Baidoa.
This allegation comes, however as international community and the UN have expressed concern over the alleged corruption, vote-buying and mismanagement which electoral bodies seem to be infirm to tackle these issues.
