A heavy fighting between Al Shabaab and Somali army, along with African Union troops (AMISOM) has erupted on Monday night at KM-50 area in Lower Shabelle region.
The battle broke out after Al Shabaab fighters have staged an ambush attack on Somali and AMISOM troops’ bases in the area, according to local residents who spoke to IdaleNews.com
Both sides are reportedly using heavy and small weaponry, including artillery fire and RPGs that could be heard miles from the battle area.
There was no immediate reports of casualties as the fighting still going on and the area is remote, with no proper phone access.
