Chairman of Puntland’s electoral commission quits

The chairman of Puntland’s electoral commission Ahmed Mohamed Ali alias (Ahmed Kismayo) has announced his resignation from his post on Monday.

Ahmed Kismayo made the announcement through a Facebook post, saying he tendered his resignation to Puntland president.

He gave no further details on his resignation, but cited it as “personal reasons”. Puntland president Abdiweli Mohamed Ali accepted Ali’s quick resignation.

Ahmed Kismayo has served for BBC Somali service reporting for years in Puntland region, before he shifted to the politics and appointed electoral commission chairperson.
