A Puntland official has said that NATO warships on Tuesday approached Qandala port to attack ISIL bases in the village. The group which had set up footholds in the village has reportedly expended their presence into new villages in Bari region.
Qandala commissioner Jama Mohamed Kurashe has said that villagers have already began to flee from the area in fear of an imminent attack which the ships can carry on the Islamic militants.
“Military actions are important in withdrawing Da’ish from the region, so Puntland forces backing by the NATO warships might attack the area “ Kurashe has told a local radio in Bosaso.
He said that hundreds of families are now stack at a village nearby the area, calling the state to reach out a humanitarian assistance to the fleeing residents.
