Ugaas Hassan Ugaas Khalif said Hiiraan elders will not attend the enter-regional state formation conference for Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan that will resume next week in Jowhar.
Speaking at a press conference in Beledweyne, Ugaas Khalif has accused IGAD envoy for Somalia Mohamed Abdi Afey of fuelling clan tension in Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan.
“The IGAD envoy should stay away from the state formation affairs of Middle Shabelle and Hiiraan regions and stop igniting further diagreements,” he said.
GAD special envoy for Somalia Mohammed Abdi Afey announced Wednesday that the state formation conference will kick off in Jowher on September 3, 2016.
The Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle is the only remaining federal state to be formed before the elections due to take place later this year (September and October).
