In their weekly normal session held in Mogadishu on Saturday, Somali cabinet ministers have officially appointed former immigration head General Abdulahi Gafow Mohamud as the new chief of the country’s Intelligence agency.
General Gafow who an acting chief replaces the outgoing head of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Abdirahman Mohamed Tuurayre, who was unexpectedly sacked by president Mohamud of Somalia last June.
The new Somali Intelligence chief Abdulahi Gafow Mohamud is a veteran Somali general who has long serves as the managing director of the country’s Immigration department.
Mr Gafow becomes the fifth head of Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) since Somali president HE Hassan Sheikh Mohamud came to power in September, 2012.
