Former Somali defense minister Salad Ali Jelle has accused the security agencies of the federal government of having links with Al Shabaab, helping them in the attacks.
“Since president Hassan Sheikh took office 2012, Al Shabaab attacks and bombings have been on increase in Mogadishu, so this shows us that there is a link between security agencies and the militants,” said Jelle.
He said the government security agencies have failed of preventing the one-style tactic that Al Shabaab uses to bomb and lay siege on hotels in the capital.
“I was invited an Iftar at the hotel on the day of the attack. I lost valuable colleagues in the siege of Al Shabaab. The raid highlights how the Somali government has totally failed the security,” he added.
The politician’s accusation followed an attack on Nasa-Hablod hotel at KM4 area that left at least 15 people, including Bur’i Mohamed Hamza who was the state minister of environment for the office of the prime minster.
