The nighbouring Somali federal states of Galmudug and Puntland have traded blame over the insecurity and latest killing in the central town of Galkayo, headquarters of Mudug province.
The mayor of Galkayo administration under Galmudug state Hersi Abdi Barre has accused it nighbouring Puntland of failing to tackle with the growing insecurity in its territories.
Puntland blamed Galmudug for orchestrating the ongoing assassinations and bomb attacks in the northern part of Galkayo, a claim that the rival other side denies.
“The Puntland accusations are false and baseless, such blame could trigger fresh tension between the two states in Mudug region ,” said Barre.
Galkayo is divided into two zones, where the northern portion forms part of Puntland state, while its southern part is governed by the Galmudug State.
