Mogadishu on high alert for possible Ramadan attacks

The deputy mayor of Mogadishu Mohamed Ahmed Dirie has announced security agencies have been put on high alert for possible Al shabaab attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking at a press conference in Mogadishu, Dirie said city’s security will be beefed up by local forces, with the help of the local districts administrations and residents.

“It’s our responsibility to take measures to prevent Al shabaab from carrying out Ramadan attacks in the capital,” said Mogadishu deputy mayor.

Continuing, the deputy mayor has unveiled that Turkish president Racep Tayyep Erdogan is expected to pay a milestone visit to Mogadishu, 2nd time in less than two years.

Al Shabaab is known for conducting deadly bombings and gun attacks during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
