Djibouti-an embassy in Mogadishu said AMISOM soldiers in Beledweyne city have played a significant role in the efforts aimed to end the deadly enter-clan fighting in Beledweyne.
Dayid Dubad Rooble, the ambassador of Djibouti to Somalia has refuted reports that AU peacekeeping forces in the city did not act quickly to stop the fighting.
“Djibouti-an troops in Beledweyne have done their best and managed to intervene the inter-clan violence,” said Rooble.
The ambassador’s comments after Djibouti-an soldiers serving with AMISOM have been accused of laxity by local media and elders in the town.
Scores of people, mostly civilians have been killed in days of battle between two clan militiamen fighting in Howlwadag village, west of Beledweyne in central Somalia.
