Al shabaab mounts attack on army base in El Wak

Al shabaab fighters have launched a daring midnight attack on Somali army base in the country’s southern town of El Wak in Gedo province. on Wednesday Morning Idale News Online Reports.

Gun-toting Al shabaab fighters mounting in pick-ups have attacked the city from different corners, before storming the SNA army outpost, according to residents.

At least seven people, including three Al shabaab fighters have been killed in SNA’s couter-attack, while another was wounded, military sources said.

Four SNA – Somali National Army died in the overnight raid at El Wak on Somalia’s border with Kenya.

Al-Shabaab often carries out such suicide attacks in the capital Mogadishu and elsewhere, in its bid to topple Somalia’s western-backed federal government.
