One of Somali Mai most acclaimed poeters, Isaaq abgaalow has died today in Baidao District South West of Somalia the age of 78, family announced Sunday.
Mr. Abgaalow has been in coma for weeks for illness that left him bed-ridden.
Many Somalis Mai People consider him to be one of the greatest Af Somali Mai classic poets, with many of his poetry arts focused on nationalism as Somalia was struggling to gain an independence from British and Italian colonists in 1960s and also after Civil war in Somalia.
Hes was one of the leaders of Rahwein resistance Army (RRA), Since 1995-1999
In his career spanning 4 decades, Abgaalow’s poetry work campaigned for Somalia’s unity and promoted peace which made him an icon figure among Somali poets.
Tributes have been paid to the late poet whose literary legacy drew much inspiration and respect among Somalis around the world.
