At least five people, including two Al shabaab members were killed in a gunfight between militants and armed militia loyal to Khat traders in central Somalia.
Aadan Yabal district commissioner Mohamud Sheikh Hassan told Idale News Online that the combat happened near Moqokori area in Hiiraan region when Al shabaab ambushed vehicles transporting Khat.
“Armed militiamen guarding Khat convoy heading to Mubah area came under fire from Al shabaab fighters near Moqokori village. The firefight has led to the death of five people,” said Hassan.
Those killed in the fighting include two Al shabaab fighters and three militiamen. Al shabaab did not release any comments on the attack.
