Al Shabaab militants vacate from key town in Middle Shabelle region

Fighters from Somalia’s Al Qaeda linked Al Shabaab group have withdrawn from Adan Yabal town in Middle Shabelle region, residents said.

The militants’ departure came after heavily armed Somalia National Army, backed by African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops have moved into the town, residents said on Saturday.

The coalition forces are making military maneuvers in parts of Middle Shabelle region, a bid to re-capture Advance Adan Yabal town, sources told IdaleNews.com

Meanwhile, several loud explosions have been heard in the town. No group said it carried out the blasts.

The lasts reports indicate that Somali troops, along with AMISOM peacekeeping forces are preparing to liberate the town that has been vacated by Al Shabaab militants
