Somali government troops, along with African Union soldiers have retaken control of several key villages in the country’s southern middle Shabelle region, reports said on Saturday.

The allied forces entered Ali Gadud mosque and Adow Uul, which fall under Adala town from different corners, without encountering any confrontation from Al shabaab fighters.

Meanwhile, fighting erupted between SNA and AMISOM troops on one side and Al shabaab militants on the other at a nearby village after seizure of the areas.

No exact casualty figure was not immediately available.

The Al shabaab militants did not comment on the reason of their withdrawal so far, but the retreat comes a day after the coalition forces re-captured Gal’ad town in Galgaduud region in central Somalia. The fall of Gal’ad came peacefully.
