A high-level delegation headed by the prime minister of Somalia’s federal republic government Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke has arrived on Friday in Garowe city, the capital of Puntland state.
On arrival, the premier and his entourage received a warm welcome at the airport from Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, Vice President Abdihakin Abdullahi Omar Amey, ministers, MPs and traditional leaders.
Credible Sources say the PM’s visit to Garowe is part of proposed clan based formula known as 4.5 of the Somali election model in 2016, which Puntland has vehemently rejected.
PM Sharmarke is expected to meet with Puntland leaders and elders during his stay in Garowe, focusing on mainly ways to convince Puntland to except for the electoral process.
