Somalia And Ethiopia In Talks Over Border Clashes – INO

Jig Jiga(INO) —-Few days after at least 50 people were killed and
scores of others injured in border clashes between Somali clan militia
and Ethiopian paramilitary unit since last week, Somali government has
sent a delegation to Ethiopia to end the deadly clashes.

The delegation, mostly minister have arrived in Jigjiga, the regional
capital of the Somali-inhabited region in Ethiopia.

The clashes pitting Liyu police, paramilitary unit operating in
Ethiopia’s ethnic Somali region and clan militias near Somali border
is the worst in decades as two sides were mobilizing for new a
fighting.

Most of the victims were civilians caught in the week-long fighting
between the Somali militia and the Ethiopian force known as “Liyu
police”, Xinhua quoted Somalia’s Galgadud region Governor Hussein
Weheliye Cirfo as saying.
