Muqdisho (INO) — Somalia’s Federal parliament has unanimously approved the newly appointed unskilled cabinet ministers by prime minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, Idale News Online reports.
During Monday’s parliamentary session in the capital, 191 out of 220 MPs endorsed the new cabinet which is made of 26 ministers, including three female ministers.
In the past few weeks, Somali lawmakers had forced PM Sharmarke to revise his first and second proposed cabinet line-up after reinstating large number of former ministers who failed their tasks.
Meanwhile, Al shabaab Gunmen in a moving car have shot and killed Abdulahi Qayad Barre, MP as he left his hotel in Mogadishu’s Hamarjajab district early hours in the morning and heading to parliament building to attend the last parliamentary meeting of the session, according to witnesses.
Al shabaab has claimed credit for the murder of the MP which was the first to be killed this year and vowed that more targeted killings against Somali Federal parliamentarians. Five MPs were killed separately in drive-by-shooting in Mogadishu last year.
