Turkish: President Erdoğan condemns Barcelona terror attack, voices solidarity with Spain

Idalenews.President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan condemned the terror attack on Thursday that killed 13 people and injured 100 others in Barcelona’s picturesque Las Ramblas district.

Erdoğan offered his condolences to Spanish King Felipe VI and expressed his sadness over the loss of lives of innocent people, according to the presidential sources.

“I strongly condemn the attack, which once again revealed the brutal face of terrorism, a threat to not only Spain but the common values of all humanity,” Erdoğan said in his message to King Felipe.

The president also emphasized that Turkey is in full solidarity with Spain, saying he shares the pain of the Spanish nation.

A van veered onto a sidewalk and sped down a busy pedestrian zone Thursday in Barcelona’s picturesque Las Ramblas district, swerving from side to side as it mowed down tourists and residents and turned the popular European vacation spot into a bloody killing zone.

Thirteen people were killed and 100 were injured, 15 of them seriously, in what authorities called a terror attack. The attack was later claimed by Daesh terror group.
