Suspected Al-Shabaab fighters have attacked Dagah area in Tarbaj, Wajir County, some 630 kilometers north of the capital Nairobi where they killed two people.

Tarbaj police boss, Andrew Mwiti, said the attack occurred Saturday morning after the Al-Shabaab fighters attacked Dagah village where they destroy the communication mast with an aim of creating a communication breakdown in the area.

Mwiti said the fighters killed two people who were casual labourers attached to a construction company based in Barbara area in Dagah.

According to Citizen TV, two motor vehicles were also destroyed during the attack after the militants set them on fire.

Last week, Al-Shabaab terrorists destroyed Safaricom and Orange telecommunication masts in Kotulo, Mandera County.

Mid this month, Safaricom chief executive Bob Collymore said the company is suffering huge losses due to vandalism of masts in northern Kenya.

Mr Collymore said six telecommunication masts have been destroyed in different parts of Mandera, Garissa and other counties on the Kenya-Somalia border in terrorist attacks in the last few months.

Kenyan troops entered southern Somalia in 2011 to fight the Shebab fighters, later joining the AU force.

Al-Shabaab are fighting to overthrow Somalia’s internationally-backed government, but have also carried out a string of revenge attacks in neighbouring Kenya.
